Croatian Ambassador visits Camp Ziouani

August 26, 2012 – Mr. Pjer Šimunović, Croatian Ambassador on A-Side, visited the 9th Croatian Contingent in Camp Ziouani.

On a sunny and light windy Sunday the Croatian Ambassador arrived in the morning. The Commanding Officer of 3rd Coy AUSBATT, Capt Zdravko Miloševic, brought the Guard of Honour to attention to the distinguished guest. In his address, Mr. Šimunović highlighted the importance of Croatia in contributing to world peace and security by participating in Peacekeeping Operations. He furthermore stated that that represents an essential part of foreign policy and the mission of the Croatian Armed Forces. UNDOF mission is regarding to the current situation in the Middle East one of the most focused Croatian engagements at present.

In discussions with the Fore Commander UNDOF, MGen I S Singha, together with the Commanding Officers from AUSBATT and LOGBATT, the great value of HRVCON's contribution to UNDOF was honorably expressed. In particular, the high level of professionalism and discipline of the Croatian soldiers fulfilling their current challenging tasks were emphasized. MGen Singha stressed that transparency and impartiality in action are still the main UNDOF's motives. The visit of Mr. Šimunović ended with a delightful lunch.
