Force Commander (FC) Multinational Force & Observers (MFO) visits UNDOF

December 02, 2013 - The FC MFO, Maj Gen Warren Whiting of New Zealand visited UNDOF on Sunday 24 November 2013 and was hosted by the DFC UNDOF, Brig Gen Hari B. Basnet at Camp Ziouani.

He received a brief on UNDOF Operations by the COO, LtCol Antonio Lastimado at Camp Ziouani, and then travelled to Mt Bental where he received a panoramic brief on FijiBatt operations by LtCol Sitiveni Qiliho.

Maj Gen Whiting expressed his gratitude to DFC, COO and CO FIJIBATT on the very informative briefs.

The Multinational Force and Observers (MFO) is located in the Sinai peninsula, Egypt and was established following the singing of the Camp David Accord on September 17, 1978 and the Israel-Egypt Peace Treaty on March 26, 1979. On May 18, 1981 the UN SC indicated that the UN would be unable to provide the force, and so the MFO came into being in 1982.
