Fiji Day Celebrations

Fiji Batt celebrated the 44th Fiji Independence Day celebrations on 10 October 2014 in Camp Ziouani.
Fiji became an independent sovereign state on 10th October 1970 when its colonial status was abrogated. Ratu Sir Kamisese Mara, first Prime Minister of independent Fiji, received from Prince Charles the documents evidencing Fiji's independence. That independence was and remains a great source of pride and joy to all Fiji citizens.
The Republic of the Fiji Military Forces have celebrated Fiji Day in its own way with the various countries that they have been deployed to. Guests who are new to Fiji's culture and traditions are treated especially on Fiji Day Celebrations with the traditional food and dance and the ever-present warm and cheerful hospitality that the Fijian soldiers are known around the world for.
Fiji Day is a day of reflection and unity where all races and diverse cultures in Fiji unite and celebrate with their families and friends of its prosperity and peace that has remained intact since 10 October 1970.
