Medal Parade 60 Inf Gp FRC Irish Contingent UNDOF
On Wednesday the 11th of March 2020 Force Reserve Company 60 Inf Gp Irish Contingent UNDOF held its Medal Parade in Camp Faouar UNDOF HQ.
The ceremony was officiated by Lt Col Oliver Dwyer Officer Commanding FRC 60 Inf Gp UNDOF . The guests of honour to the ceremoney where Brig Gen M O Brien A/FC UNDOF , Maj Gen A McKenna D COS Ops Irish Defence Forces and COS UNDOF Col M Alvarez.
The ceremoney seen Officers , NCOs and Men from the Irish Contingent recieve the UNDOF Peacekeepers Medal for services rendered for a 6 month period. Also on parade were Irish Staff Officers from UNDOF HQ who serve for a 12 month duration.
During the ceremoney Brig Gen M O Brien congratulated all on parade who were recieving the UNDOF Medal. Brig Gen M O Brien also thanked the Irish Contingent for its hard work and dedecation during their 6 month tour of duty. The A/FC spoke of the continued Irish contribution to peacekeeping operations not just in Syria but all around the world and spoke with pride and admiration of Irelands 60 years of unbroken troop contributions to the United Nations.
