FRC Medal Parade
The 46th Infantry Group (46 Inf Gp) have, following nearly six months of hard work and dedicated service to a complex mission, come to the time for recognition of this service and endeavor. Last Tuesday, 17th March, the United Nations Disengagement Observer Force (UNDOF) Commander, Major General Purna Chandra Thapa was joined with the Irish Defence Forces' Deputy Chief of Staff Operations, Major General Ralph James in congratulating members of the 46 Inf Gp on their achievements and hard work over the last number of months. Together with the Senior Irish UNDOF Officer, Brigadier General Anthony Hanlon they presented the Officer Commanding 46 Inf Gp, Lieutenant Colonel Denis Harrington and the men and women under his command, the UNDOF medal to recognize their service. The day, coinciding with the Irish National Day, was a major milestone in particular for the young men and women completing their first overseas tour. Overseas service is a key component of service for men and women of the Irish Defence Forces and receiving the UNDOF medal is a source of tremendous pride and achievement for these Irish soldiers.
