UNDOF Ultimate Challenge 2012
May 18, 2012 - Nine teams participated in the spring event of the UNDOF Ultimate Challenge skills competition demonstrating perfect leadership, followership, and the iron will to excel.
The main purpose of the UNDOF Ultimate Challenge (UUC) is to develop esprit-de-corps among the peacekeepers of all the different troop contributing countries, MGen Natalio C. Ecarma III, Force Commander UNDOF, said in his opening speech. Therefore the mixed teams are drawn from all major contingents in order to enhance intercultural exchange and mutual understanding. But it demonstrates also both individual and team skills at various stands. The teams fiercely competed in nine tasks, namely: grenade throwing, rifle shooting, endurance run, land navigation, first aid management, rodeo driving, weapons proficiency, raft and rowing, and obstacle course. All teams completed the events with a remarkable display of physical strength, grit, and teamwork. This time the overall winning team, honored with the perpetual trophy, was team number seven comprised of Sgt Christoph Glintschnig (AUT), Cpl Aleo Barrosa (PHB), Sgt Manuel Zepitz (AUT), LCpl Gaourav Badawanache (IND), Cpl Gerald Reitinger (AUT), Sgt Maja Tominac (HRV) and led by Capt Surya Pratap Singh (IND).
