Chief of Staff Col Timothy Daly
Col Timothy Daly (Ireland) arrived to UNDOF in March 2021 to undertake a 12 month Tour of Duty as Chief of Staff. He takes over the role from Col Martin Alvarez (Uruguay), who recently departed the mission.
On the 26th March 2021, Irish Defence Forces soldiers serving with the United Nations Disengagement Observer Force (UNDOF) in Syria were presented with their UNDOF service medal by Force Commander UNDOF, Lieutenant General Ishwar Hamal.
On 30th Mar 2021, Head of Mission /Force Commander Lt Gen Ishwar Hamal had a meeting with H.E. Mrs. Hanna Ama Nyarko, Ambassador of Republic of Ghana to Israel, accompanied by Mr.
Camp Faouar witnessed the Medal Presentation Ceremony of the third rotation of the INDCON Logistic Coy on 24th March 2021.
March 13, 2013 – The Commander of the Austrian Joint Forces Command, LtGen Franz Reissner, visited UNDOF for a two-day inspection mission.
March 5, 2013 – After more than a year of halt, UNDOF resumed its usual role in Apple Crossing in cooperation with the International Committee of the Red Cross.
February 15, 2013 – The Director of Asia and Middle East Division in DPKO, Ms. Izumi Nakamitsu, visited UNDOF on Friday morning.
February 11, 2013 – Croatian Ambassador to the State of Israel Mr. Pjer Simunovic visited the 10th Croatian Contingent at the Golan Heights.
He was accompanied by the Slovenian Ambassador Ms. Alenka Suhadolnik.
January 26, 2013 – A Military Capability Study (MCS) team from UNHQ New York visited UNDOF in order to be briefed in detail about the changing operational situation in the mission area.
January 14, 2013 – Col Cirilito Sobejana from the Philippines took over command as Chief of Staff UNDOF.
January 13, 2013 – After 17 years deployment within UNDOF the Japanese Contingent (J-CON) left the UN mission on a sunny Sunday morning forever.
December 11, 2012 – The acting Deputy Military Advisor for Peacekeeping Operations in New York, MGen Jean Baillaud, visited UNDOF for three days.
UNDOF is observing the drastic changes in the security situation in its area of responsibility and is aware of the events and incidents particularly in the southern part of the Area of Separation, which entails that UNDOF's area of responsibility is already heavily affected by the infighting.
