February 27, 2012 - In close cooperation with the ICRC and authorities of the Mission host governments, UNDOF assisted in three different humanitarian crossings in one operation.

Five female mourners crossed back from the Syrian side after paying a visit of condolence to the members of their family they had been separated from after the establishment of the ceasefire line on the Golan Heights between Israel and Syria.

This was followed by a crossing of three students who were studying in Damascus and were now able to return home. Finally a bride accompanied by her family prepared to meet her new husband and his family for the first time at the UNDFO MP checkpoint between the gates to celebrate their wedding.

LOGBATT and PHILBATT of UNDOF provided logistic support and had a medical team on standby in case of an emergency. The Military Police provided traffic control at the only UNDOF crossing point in order to ensure the smooth progression of the three hour event.
