NEW YEAR MESSAGE FROM THE UNDOF HEAD OF MISSION AND FORCE COMMANDER
Finally, the time has come to bid adieu to the year 2020 and welcome the year 2021. On behalf of UNDOF and from me personally, I extend my warm greetings and wish a Happy New Year to all international and national civilian staff as well as to the military staff, to include those from OGG, along with your families.
We must all take pride in our individual and collective contribution towards the fulfilment of UNDOF’s Mission mandate during the year. However, I must admit that the journey has not been easy amidst the mishap of COVID-19. Along with the threat to our mental and physical health, the consequences of the pandemic were also observed in forms of delays and challenges within operational and logistical aspects. Despite of all these multifaceted challenges, you have stood together as a unified team under the umbrella of one mission and endeavored to accomplish the common goal as vividly indicated in our slogan, “one mission, one team, one goal.”
In this regard, my personal commendation goes to all of you of the UNDOF fraternity for your unflinching contribution during the year. I also extend my sincere appreciation to both the Parties to the Agreement for their strong commitment in upholding the Agreement on Disengagement. Likewise, words of appreciation are due for the Troop Contributing Countries for their continuous support in providing professional peacekeepers to the Mission.
Let me also remind you all that the nature of the pandemic continues to unfold. In the coming year, as we move ahead to giving our best efforts intended at maintaining peace and stability in the Golan, I urge everyone to continue to follow the simple protocols that would protect ourselves and others.
Once again, I wish all of you and our dear families, a Happy, Healthy and Prosperous New Year 2021.
