On 19 August 2020, UNDOF Head of Mission and Force Commander (HoM/FC) Major General Ishwar Hamal made his first official tour to Camp Ziouani, located in the A-side of the UNDOF Area of Responsibility (AOR). He was initially greeted by the Chief of Life Support and Central Warehousing Anthony Feeney along with fellow UNDOF staff members, followed by a situational awareness brief presented by Administrative Officer Denis Cusack.

HoM/FC also visited Fiji Batt (FB), based in Camp Ziouani, who are responsibile for the A-side of UNDOF’s AOR. He was received with a Guard of Honor, after which the Commanding Officer of FB, Lt Col. Penione Naliva, briefed HoM/FC on the unit’s responsibilities and capabilities. The HoM/FC toured the area and inspected the various areas of Camp Ziouani.

The HoM/FC concluded his visit by addressing all UNDOF staff and troops in Camp Ziouani. In particular, he commended the performance of the Fiji Batt and the support of the staff members on the A-side, and further encouraged all personnel to maintain their professionalism and enthusiasm in fulfilling UNDOF’s mandate.
