Col Tshering Penjor
Colonel Tshering Penjor was commissioned into the Royal Bhutan Army in December 1997.
An alumnus of the National Defence Academy, India, and the Indian Military Academy, he has built a career spanning almost three decades. Throughout his service, he has held a variety of operational and staff appointments, including key assignments at the Royal Bhutan Army Headquarters. These roles have provided him with a strong foundation in military operations, planning, and institutional coordination.
He is a graduate of the Defence Services Staff College, Wellington, India and holds a Master of Science (MSc) degree, reflecting his commitment to professional military education and strategic studies.
His international exposure includes serving as a Military Observer in the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) in 2016. He also successfully led a national contingent to Bangladesh for the BIMSTEC Multinational Military Exercise in 2021.
Before assuming his current appointment as Chief of Staff in UNDOF, he served as the Focal Officer for the United Nations at the Royal Bhutan Army Headquarters. In this role, he was responsible for directing and coordinating the training and operational deployment of personnel for United Nations peacekeeping missions. His responsibilities included ensuring preparedness, aligning operational standards with UN requirements, and facilitating Bhutan’s continued contribution to global peacekeeping efforts.
